I decided to add a curtain to solve the table leg problem. I gave Tommy whiskers with colored pencil and scraped a bit of highlights out with a sharp blade.
The light source is actually from the left... there are windows out of sight. The door behind Tommy actually goes to a foyer which was rather dark, but I have been debating whether to darken the glass panes further... along with the wood as it is also dark. I will ponder this awhile but I think my eye likes what is happening with the shapes and values right now in this ink wash.

Tommy - WIP
I started this value study for a painting of Tommy, my girlfriend's mother's cat. Tommy is a beautiful Tabby with the most soulful eyes.
Actually this was going to be the painting but I got caught up in the India Ink and decided to keep going with it as such.
That is a table leg on the left... I'm not sure what to do there yet. I need to define it a bit more, BUT I don't want the eye to linger on it so it needs to be somewhat soft. Backgrounds are a challenge for me... I think I should have left the table leg out... which I will do when I paint this in watercolors. Maybe make the left side have a large dark cast shadow.....???

Simply Beautiful
The light shining through this leaf caught my eye the other day while I was exploring a new nature trail in Canton, NY. One of those Moments that we tend to miss....
